ASP's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and New Urbanism/Transit-oriented Plans

ASP will set up studios, offices, and entertainment/film-related classes in four or five underemployed, underprivileged, or socio-economically deprived communities in the environs of Atlanta, Georgia. This can include, but not limited to, Riverside/Carey Park/Blandtown (NPU-G), West End/Tenth Ward, the Old Fourth Ward, and Peoplestown/Summerhill areas.

Filming and film locations will be located in these same communities, as well as others for different productions and film genres.

We want to create New Urbanism communities where people live, work, and play in the same community. We want to be part of the live-work-play philosophy. While the New Urbanism is nothing new--Atlantic Station, Decatur and other metro Atlanta communities come to mind. We will use the Atlanta development study, "The WalkUP Wake-Up Call: Atlanta." (WalkUP stands for Walkable Urban Places). According to the report, metro Atlanta's walkable urban properties are 112 percent higher in value overall than non-walkable ones. Since 2008, 50 percent have established walkup communities and 10 percent emerging ones. Atlanta is compared to other U.S. and international cities such as Paris, Brussels and Portland, Oregon, who have set the New Urbanism bar for their cities. (Northside Neighbor, November 6, 2013).

"People, Planet, Profit," will be one of our mottos. We want safe and meaningful jobs, clean air and water, charitable donations, and safe products. Our business will be more than simply a profit machine. We believe we can play a decisive role in solving society's more troublesome problems. A better society means a better environment for doing business. We will make a proactive social responsiblity strategy. It pays to be green. This will be a competitive advantage in recruiting talented people.

Other long-run benefits will include the following:

Tax-free incentives to employees (such as buying orchestra tickets and giving them to deserving employees).

Rretention of talented employees by satisfying their altruistic motives.

Help in recruiting talented and socially conscious personnel.

Improved community living standards for employees.

Attracting socially conscious investors.

A nontaxable benefit for employees in which company funds are donated to their favorite causes. We will match employees' contributions to their high school or college alma maters, for example. (See Kreitner & Cassidy, Chapter 5, 2011).
